DBR-AT Somatic Interweave Training
with Martin Warner
Sunshine Coast, October 2026
This 5-day, 6-night residential immersion offers DBR practitioners the opportunity to learn through direct, embodied experience of the Alexander Technique (AT) somatic interweaves — clinical interventions developed by Martin Warner in close collaboration with Dr Frank Corrigan, founder of Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR).
Across the immersion, practitioners will be guided through precise somatic interventions that support the body–brain system to release blocks to healing, and to discover what becomes possible when client attunement is not just a concept, but a living, embodied presence.

As practitioners, we spend so much of our lives holding space for others. This immersion offers a chance to be held ourselves — and to slow down in a relaxed coastal setting, with sunshine and beautiful surroundings to help us feel restored and connected, while deepening our DBR-AT skills.
What are the Alexander Technique (AT) Interweaves?
Alexander Technique Interweaves are simple, moment-to-moment cues that, when used carefully by clinicians with sufficient DBR competence, support the release of physical bracing patterns that can interrupt the natural flow of DBR processing. Their intention is to gently unwind the body’s defensive contractions so the DBR sequence can continue and complete. These interweaves are effective because trauma often shapes the posture of the neck, jaw, shoulders, sternum, spine, and eyes in ways that quietly resist orienting, shock, affect, or connection. AT Interweaves for DBR are somatic–verbal interventions created by Martin Warner, drawing on his background in the Alexander Technique in collaboration with Frank Corrigan. They are integrated directly within the DBR process to help clients soften patterns of bracing, armouring, dissociative organisation, and defensive contraction that can obstruct the orienting–tension–shock–affect sequence. These interweaves are not Alexander Technique lessons. They are clinical interventions designed specifically to support and deepen DBR therapeutic work. Important note: The AT somatic interweaves are powerful interventions and careful attention to their safe use beyond the training is essential. Unskilled use can block processing rather than facilitate it, or promote overwhelm rather than reduce the risk of it.
Through this 5-day immersion, you will have an opportunity to:
-
Strengthen your capacity to simply be — fully present, here and now — and experience the profound benefits this brings to both daily life and clinical work.
-
Deepen your attunement to yourself and your clients. As your own system softens, you can begin to meet your clients from a steadier, quieter, and clearer quality of presence — supporting more precise, attuned facilitation of DBR.
-
Develop advanced observational skills to support your application of DBR and recognise signals of bracing, armouring, and other obstructions to healing during the DBR process.
-
Experience how the AT interweaves can gently deconstruct and dismantle layers of bracing and armouring that form around shock, emotional pain, and affect.
-
Cultivate the capacity to safely resolve these obstructions so shock, affect, and the deeper layers beneath them can fully release — and healing can flow.
-
Receive the interweaves yourself. This immersion offers direct, personal experience of the interweaves applied to your own system, which is where some of the most profound learning and benefit occurs.
Deep therapeutic attunement isn’t a technique — it’s a state of being. When the DBR therapist is fully earthed in their own body, attuned to their inner movement, and no longer as braced or amoured against shock, affect or emotional pain, their presence become the foundation of healing for their client.
This work is grounded in Martin Warner’s decades of experience and expertise in the Alexander Technique, and his 11+ -year collaboration with Dr Frank Corrigan.
Who is the training for?
This immersion is designed for practitioners who have completed formal DBR training (Level 2 and above) and who are ready to deepen their attunement, refine their clinical skill, enhance their observational capacity, expand their somatic literacy (the ability to notice, understand, and work with what the body is communicating), support their own healing and presence, and learn the DBR-AT somatic interweaves directly from their source.
For practitioners who have completed other trainings with Martin Warner, this immersion offers a chance to deepen and consolidate your capacity for this work.

Deep Brain Reorienting: Understanding the Neuroscience of Trauma, Attachment Wounding, and DBR Psychotherapy
Martin Warner is a co-author of Chapter 11, “Observations of the Head–Body Relationship,” which he wrote with Dr Frank Corrigan.
That’s the chapter where Martin’s expertise in somatic observation and the Alexander Technique interweaves is integrated into the DBR model.
The Use of the Self by F. Matthias Alexander (1932).
This classic foundational text introduces Alexander’s original discoveries and principles, including the relationship between habit, posture, attention, and the way we use ourselves in movement and daily life. It offers helpful context for understanding the Alexander Technique background that informs the AT somatic interweaves used within DBR-AT.
