Bec Stewart (she/her)

I bring over 13 years of experience as a psychotherapist and holistic mental health counsellor. Clients often describe me as compassionate, open-minded, and deeply non-judgmental in my approach. I'm passionate about supporting people through meaningful and lasting change—whether you're navigating emotional pain, trauma, mental health challenges, relationship difficulties, or patterns that leave you feeling stuck.

In our work together, we may gently work with the deeper, often unconscious layers of past experiences, attachment wounds and unresolved trauma that can be stored in the mind, nervous system and body and continue to impact you and your relationships today.

To support this process, I draw on evidence-based approaches such as EMDR Therapy and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), alongside parts-based methods like Resource Therapy, Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy, and inner-child work. I also integrate somatic therapy to help the body process and release what words alone may not reach. I’ve found that when we work at this depth, there is potential to begin shifting the patterns that surface-level strategies often can’t address. Many of my clients are surprised by how this way of working has not only reduced their symptoms but transformed their relationship with themselves and others.

Qualifications

Woman walking a maze in a beautiful nature setting conveying the navigation of complex emotions and experiences in therapy

Always passionate about expanding my knowledge and skills, I regularly attend trainings, conferences, and clinical consultations both in Australia and internationally. As therapists, I believe we can only guide others where we’ve been willing to go ourselves, and my lifelong commitment to my own inner work and healing is at the heart of how I show up as a therapist.

While grounded in neurobiological and psychological science and evidence-based therapeutic techniques, I recognise that transformative therapy requires working with you as a whole person - mind, body and soul. My own lived experience of overcoming trauma inspired my holistic, deep-change approach to therapy. My approach draws from:

- EMDR therapy

- Deep Brain Reorienting

- Attachment-Informed EMDR
--Embodied mindfulness

- Resource therapy

- Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS)

-- Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed therapy

- Somatic approaches to well-being and trauma recovery
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

- Theory of Structural Dissociation

- Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
- Applied neurobiology and neuroscience

- Pet-assisted therapy

- Compassion-focused therapy

- Re-parenting the unhealed inner child

- Eastern wisdom traditions

Rather than trying to 'fix' you or your “broken” past, my approach aims to support you to gently and safely meet the places of pain, fear, and tension within you with steady, compassionate awareness. In this presence, the old wounds are no longer something to avoid or fight against—they can soften and integrate into the deeper wholeness within you that has never been wounded.
